Music at our Markets
Local musicians and performers share their time and talents with the community at our Saturday and Wednesday Markets, and during the Winter months.
If you are interested in playing or performing — acoustic only, please — contact the Manager at 507-273-8232 or rochfarmmkt@hotmail.com
Crafts at the RDFM
Some of our vendors sell beautiful crafted items that are made from products from their farms. Examples are dried flower and plant arrangements, spun sheep's wool and woven wool rugs, dried gourd art, wooden toys and whirligigs, goat's milk soap, and beeswax candles. However, because the RDFM is a growers Market, these vendors are first and foremost local farmers, and were accepted as members of our association because they grow everything that they sell.
Part of our mission is to support local farmers and to provide vital links between the family farm and the community — to establish a relationship between what we consume and the sources for those products. If you are an artisan or crafter, but do not grow or raise the materials that you use to create your art, unfortunately we are unable to process your application to become a vendor at our Market.
The Rochester Downtown Alliance hosts a wonderful market on Thursdays during the summer months. You may want to contact them regarding booth space for your art and/or crafts.
Other Non-Profits
We get many requests from non profits that wish to set up at the outdoor Saturday Farmers Market, but our growers-only policy prohibits us from providing booth or stall space in the vending areas to anyone but our vendors and scheduled Market guests.
There are spots outside of the Market vending area where you are welcome to set up informational tables, if you have literature and/or promotional materials for upcoming events that you would like to share with the community. These include the grass strip along the 4th St SE sidewalk, and the park area between the Market vending area and the river. Please do not block pedestrian traffic, set up in the Market parking lot, offer items for sale or accept cash donations for fund raising purposes.
Please contact us if you would like to set up an informational table at our summer Market.
Demonstrations/Other Ways to Share
There are many possibilities for Market-hosted guest events; if you have an idea for an activity that will create a partnership between your group and the RDFM, we will schedule a Market date when you will be able to set up for a Saturday morning in one of our guest stalls. Once each summer the graduating class of Mayo Dietitian interns hosts an educational booth where the community can learn about topics such as the nutritional benefits of eating locally grown foods, food preservation, and ways to prepare fresh produce - complete with Farmers Market produce sampling and recipe handouts.
The RDFM welcomes requests for demonstrations involving cooking, food preparation & preservation, crafts made from locally grown components, and gardening/sustainable agriculture.
Please contact us if you are interested in providing a demonstration or interactive activity that helps to promote local foods and your organization.
